JOB SUMMARY

The Carolina Farm Stewardship Association (CFSA) seeks two dedicated Technical Assistance Providers to join our team. This exciting full-time (40 hours/week) role is an opportunity to work directly with farmers across the Carolinas, supporting them in implementing climate-smart conservation practices as part of an innovative project led by Pasa Sustainable Agriculture and funded by the USDA's Partnerships for Climate-Smart Commodities grant program. You'll work on the frontlines of climate-smart farming, contributing to a sustainable future while building meaningful connections with farmers. Your work will directly impact soil health, greenhouse gas mitigation, and the resilience of agriculture in the Carolinas. This remote position is based in North or South Carolina, giving you the flexibility to work from anywhere in the Carolinas while making a tangible difference in the agricultural community.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide administrative and technical guidance to farmers in developing a whole farm conservation plan, including selecting applicable and project-supported NRCS Conservation practices.

  • Provide technical guidance and support to farmers in implementing climate-smart practices that align with NRCS conservation practice standards.

  • Securely collect farm and field-level information, ensuring timeliness and respect, from project application through to contract completion.

  • Conduct environmental evaluations and complete the NRCS CPA-52 Environmental Evaluation Worksheet for farmers.

  • Contribute to data collection for continued monitoring and measuring of the impacts of implemented climate-smart practices on soil health and greenhouse gas mitigation.

  • Assist farmers in participating in a soil health benchmarking study.

  • Host workshops and attend educational events promoting climate-smart farming and marketing.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in environmental sciences, agriculture, or a related field, or a bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline.

  • A strong passion for sustainable agriculture and environmental science, with a minimum of 3 years of experience working on or with farms.

  • Knowledge of climate resilience strategies and NRCS conservation practices.

  • Proven commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion, with experience working directly with historically underserved farmers.

  • Ability to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and work comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Proficiency in Spanish, experience with GIS, USDA/NRCS programs, and digital data collection.
