Position Title: Produce to the People ™Manager

Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours M-F, occasional weekend day

Reports to: Director of Operations

Supervises: Food Distribution Associate, Drivers, Volunteers, Interns

Compensation: $50,000 - $56,000 DOE, Salary, Exempt, Benefits

Position Overview:

This position oversees the Produce to the People™ Initiative, which focuses on providing fresh produce and other whole foods to members of the community who are experiencing food and nutrition insecurity. This program is committed to providing equitable access to culturally relevant foods as the foundation of community health. This manager role works collaboratively with other program managers within Bounty & Soul, for mutual support of our operations at the intersection of food, farms and health. This is a hybrid role involving physical tasks such as warehouse activities and food distribution work, as well as managerial, supervisory and administrative tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

INVENTORY/WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT

●      Ensures adequate and appropriate quantities and quality of food for distribution, working collaboratively with food distribution, Farmers Alliance and other pertinent staff.

●      Manages inventory of perishable, non-perishable foods, and warehouse supplies.

●      Orders perishable and non-perishable food from MANNA FoodBank, distributors, businesses and other sources. Occasionally orders directly from farms when needed.

●      Schedules and manages the distribution of purchased and donated food to community markets and farmers market truck. Coordinates this in consult with the Farmers Alliance Manager and other pertinent.

●      Oversees and manages the responsibilities of food distribution associates, drivers, volunteers and interns.

●      Manages driver pickups, delivery schedules, and warehouse tasks.

●      Gives clear instructions to the food distribution team, including daily tasks and organizational policies.

●      Manages re-allocation of excess foods to community partners to prevent waste.

●      Ensures strict food safety, sanitation standards, and procedures are upheld daily.

●      Works with drivers and volunteers to ensure freshness and food safety.

●      Ensures all vehicles and equipment are properly maintained and a preventative maintenance schedule is followed.

●      Attends Produce to the People™ markets and ensure the fidelity of Bounty & Soul principles of food display and community access to food.

●      Ensures equitable access to food, overseeing just access to participants and volunteers.

●      Manages compost and trash removal processes.

●      Ensures proper record keeping including food weights from retailers and MANNA FoodBank.

●      Conducts collaborative relationships with MANNA Foodbank, grocery retailers, pantry and farm partners and distributors.

●      Maintains up to date Food Safety and Sanitation Managers Certification.

●      Reports to and discusses operations, logistics, needs, and concerns with the Director of Operations. VOLUNTEER

SUPERVISION/FOOD PROCESSING/ DISTRIBUTION

●      Works closely with Community Engagement Manager to ensure proper staffing levels of volunteers.

●      Maintains a cooperative, collaborative relationship with volunteers. Gives clear instructions around daily tasks and Bounty & Soul policies.

●      Oversees and trains volunteers to properly and safely handle all produce and other foods through the storage, processing, packaging, food box production and distribution phases of operations.

●      Oversees volunteers in the set up and display of food at in person markets, implementing Bounty & Soul market guidelines and expectations of our host sites.

Minimum Requirements:

●      Care and pride for one’s work in community

●      2-5 years of professional experience in warehouse management, ordering and inventory control, or in the food industry with similar duties

●      2 years of management and supervisory experience

●      Strong working knowledge of Google Sheets and Excel, and other Microsoft office products

●      Active interpersonal and communication skills with ability and desire to work with a diverse group of volunteers, interns, staff, and community members

●      Strong organizational, logistical, and time management skills

●      Able to make decisions quickly and work collaboratively

●      Ability to lift 50lbs repetitively

●      Up to date, clean driver’s license

●      Flexibility with job duties and willingness to contribute to the needs of the organization as may arise

Bonus Qualifications:

●      ServSafe for Managers Certified

●      Experience/certifications in forklift operation and warehouse equipment are a plus

●      Experience driving box trucks
