Bomb Pop Beverages

June 30 is National Bomb Pop Day! In honor of that and the upcoming holiday weekend, we thought it was a great opportunity to kick off a new weekly feature (#ThirstyThursday) with these Bomb Pop Beverage recipes!

Non-Alcoholic

Ingredients:

  • Grenadine (or lemonade with red food coloring or fruit punch drink)
  • Lemon-lime soda (like 7Up or Sprite)
  • Light blue sports drink (like Glacier Freeze Gatorade)
  • Ice

Directions:

Before you start: Each item will take up about 1/3 of the cup. If using grenadine, pour less than 1/3 as it will start to combine with the drink poured above it. To achieve the layered look, hold a spoon upside down (scoop side facing down) at the top of the glass, touching one of the walls of the glass. Slowly pour each liquid over the bottom of the spoon.

Step one: Pour a layer of grenadine at the bottom of the cup. Add ice to the cup, then pour the lemon-lime soda into the drink using the back of a spoon (as mentioned above). Then add the sports drink using the same method.

Step two: Finish it off with a festive reusable straw and decorative garnishes! It won’t stay layered forever, so snap some pictures before you get too far! Enjoy!

With Alcohol

This version can be changed depending on your drink preferences, but here’s the most common mix we found.

Ingredients:

  • Splash of grenadine
  • 2 shots of clear blue raspberry flavored liquor (like Bicardi Razz)
  • 2 shots of lemonade or lemon-lime soda (can use Mike’s Hard Lemonade or non-alcoholic)
  • 2 shots of a blue curaco liqueur (or another dark blue liqueur)
  • Ice

Directions:

Before you start: Each of the above can be swapped out based on preference. To get the closest flavor, use cherry, lime, and blue raspberry flavored liquids. To get the best color, find the best red, clear, and blue liquids you prefer. To achieve the layered look, hold a spoon upside down (scoop side facing down) at the top of the glass, touching one of the walls of the glass. Slowly pour each liquid over the bottom of the spoon.

Step one: Add ice to cup and pour a splash of grenadine into the cup. Pour two shots of clear blue raspberry flavored liquor over the grenadine, allowing them to mix a little.

Step two: Using the back of a spoon (as mentioned above), pour lemonade or the lemon-lime soda over the spoon and into the drink. Then add the blue curaco liqueur using the same method.

Step three: Add a festive reusable straw and some garnishes or other decorations, and enjoy!

Drink responsibly.
