Accessible Cooking Interview with Author of “Crip Up The Kitchen”, Jules Sherred

The video below depicts a 25-minute interview facilitated by Kelly Timmons of Kelly’s Kitchen with cookbook author Jules Sherred. Jules wrote a book that recently came out called “Crip Up The Kitchen”; a cookbook with accessibility and disability inclusion in mind from start to finish. As someone with a disability himself, Jules knows first-hand the importance of creating a cookbook and resource for people who need additional supports and alternative methods of information relay.

This video alternates between Kelly, a white woman with white hair in a ponytail wearing a Kelly’s Kitchen polo shirt, and Jules Sherred, a white man with dark hair who has a background on his camera showing the front cover of his new cookbook as they discuss the book. In the top right corner is an ASL interpreter by a Black woman with short hair wearing all black. Closed Captioning in bold white font is the bottom third of the video screen.

We encourage you to check out Jules’ book, which you can find on the Accessible Kitchen Tools & Equipment section of our website. To be taken to the direct link where you can purchase Jules Sherred’s book on Amazon, click here.
